Original vintage sports advertising poster for the Summer Olympic Games 1976 held in Montreal featuring the design of the stadium created by Roger Taillibert set over a rainbow on a grey background. The Games of the XXI Olympiad known as Montreal 1976 was held from 17 July - 1 August 1976 in Montreal Quebec Canada. The Olympic games were opened by Queen Elizabeth II with her daughter Princess Anne participating in an equestrian competition for the team from Great Britain. Canada finished with five silver and six bronze medals, while the Soviet Union, East Germany and thr United States ranked with the most gold medals. Advertising Poster Bovril Beef Hot Drink Weak Get. Original vintage advertising poster for Bovril - Every weak one gets stronger on Bovril - Bold black lettering set over a white background with a red frame. Bovril was developed in the 1870s by John Lawson Johnston. A thick and salty beef meat extract paste sold both in jars and cubes, it can be diluted with water or milk to make a beefy hot drink, added to recipes when cooking, or used as a spread. Advertising Poster The Times Newspaper On Sale Here. Original vintage advertising poster for a British national newspaper The Times (founded 1785). Great design featuring a copy of the newspaper against a blue background with the text in yellow above and below. Good condition, restored loss, staining on right margin, backed on linen. The Times is a British daily (Monday to Saturday) national newspaper based in London. It began in 1785 under the title The Daily Universal Register, adopting its current name on 1 January 1788. The Times and its sister paper The Sunday Times (founded in 1821) are published by Times Newspapers, since 1981 a subsidiary of News UK, itself wholly owned by News Corp. The Times and The Sunday Times do not share editorial staff, were founded independently, and have only had common ownership since 1967. In 1959, the historian of journalism Allan Nevins analysed the importance of The Times in shaping the views of events of London's elite: For much more than a century The Times has been an integral and important part of the political structure of Great Britain. Its news and its editorial comment have in general been carefully coordinated, and have at most times been handled with an earnest sense of responsibility. While the paper has admitted some trivia to its columns, its whole emphasis has been on important public affairs treated with an eye to the best interests of Britain. To guide this treatment, the editors have for long periods been in close touch with 10 Downing Street. The Times is the first newspaper to have borne that name, lending it to numerous other papers around the world, such as The Times of India and The New York Times. In countries where these other titles are popular, the newspaper is often referred to as The London Times or The Times of London, although the newspaper is of national scope and distribution. The Times is the originator of the widely used Times Roman typeface, originally developed by Stanley Morison of The Times in collaboration with the Monotype Corporation for its legibility in low-tech printing. In November 2006 The Times began printing headlines in a new font, Times Modern. The Times was printed in broadsheet format for 219 years, but switched to compact size in 2004 in an attempt to appeal more to younger readers and commuters using public transport. The Sunday Times remains a broadsheet. The Times had an average daily circulation of 417,298 in January 2019;[2] in the same period, The Sunday Times had an average daily circulation of 712,291. An American edition of The Times has been published since 6 June 2006. It has been heavily used by scholars and researchers because of its widespread availability in libraries and its detailed index. Yaguzhinsky Sergei Ivanovich (1862�1947) - Russian and Soviet painter, graphic artist, designer, artist of decorative and applied arts. He worked on book illustrations and propaganda posters. Taught a watercolor course at the Central Stroganov Central School of Art and Industry - the First State Free Art Workshops (1893�1919); from 1900 � member of the school�s educational committee. He painted portraits and landscapes, and book illustrations, including illustrations for Russian folk tales, works by A. S. Pushkin, N. V. Gogol (1902). He drew sketches for fabrics, wallpaper, furniture, labels, household items, and made visual aids on the geography of Russia. Among his design is a menu for the gala dinner celebrating the 300th anniversary of the reign of the House of Romanov (1913). Cinema Poster The Turning Point WWII War Front Strategy. Original vintage Soviet film The Turning Point / Vellikiy Perelom, a 1945 World War Two movie portraying Soviet military art, the film was directed by Fridrikh Ermler, the poster features an illustration of a stern looking Red Army colonel general holding his hand firmly on a map and lieutenant general looking at him. The creators of the film repeatedly visited the front lines and talked with generals and staff officers to portray the true front-line life and struggle, convey the psychology of the people.
